Today I helped out by organizing news tapes into the proper boxes as well as into the correct order. By doing this it makes it easier to access and gather information for the news broadcasts later in the day. I once again organized the viewers birthdays into the proper folders so it can be easy to find when that day comes.
I shadowed a director/producer of the news casts. She showed me how to direct a show by switching the cameras and putting them on the preview screen. Which shows what the camera will take next. That will be what the camera or live shot shows to the viewers. I watched her edit graphics in photo shop of the "over the shoulder" images that contained many layers within the file. The director briefly went over hoe they edit their commercial for "the wheel deal" in Adobe Premier for the segment at 7.

Today I printed off birthday emails and separated them into the right folder. This made it easier to access the correct day when the birthdays were put on air. People are able to submit their birthdays and a shout out from the news channel for there birthday.
I was shown how to log the tape recorder and edit tapes. Then transfered the data to get it ready for a broadcast at noon. I labeled tapes with the title of the story and wrote down the time code of the clip.
I had the opportunity to watch live news cast from inside the studio. Where guests came in to advertise current events. This particular guest was advertising pet adoption and brought a furry friend to show that it needs a home.
Practicing and assisting news reporters with script writing was fun. I took a real story from the news press release and got it ready for the teleprompter, starting with the main point as the opening tease. Which will be read later on television.
The graphics that are used on air I observed as the designer put them together in Adobe Photoshop. These images were of stocks or people that were convicted of a crime. The image file consists of many layers that make it easier to swap photos in and out of the graphic.

I accompanied reporters and photographers to recored the governor of NY in Lowville. The governors campaign was promoting the idea of expanding snowmobiling in upstate new york. This promotion to raise awareness consisted of flyers and advertising to attract more tourists in the "North Country." We took footage of the governors speech and interviewed the senator of NY along with others that stated there thoughts on the given campaign.
I found it very interesting to see how differently photographers and reporters do there jobs. Some log the video times of the clops that they want to use in the car on the way back to the station. This saves them time instead of having to log it and edit the video once they get back to the station.
I learned how to plug in the time code of the specific place in the video of were the cut will be. In this editing process they showed me how to overlay the reporters voice over a specific image as well as getting the timing down.
